But it can at least be plausibly argued that the
{nai} in this is tied semantically to the {je},
not to the {pu}, whatever the grammar says (and
regardless of the claim it should then be {na}).
{punai} by itself doesn't seem to occur, but
looks like "at some present or futuree time if at
all."
