The section heading:

In a new pass, perform the following absorptions (absorption means
that the token is removed from the grammar for processing in
following steps, and optionally reinserted, grouped with the
absorbing token after parsing is completed).

I'm assuming there that 'grammar' is intended to say 'text'.

As described, the BY absorbtion is only re-inserted *after* parsing (by
which I assume that it means "the current step of parsing", not "parsing
as a whole", but who the hell knows?).
