I don't think the x2 of mlana means what you think it means.

x2 is something that x1 is to the side of, not the thing it's a part of which it is the side part of.

Perhaps we need a mlana pagbu lujvo?

In principle {mlana} can be either. The same happens with all
the other spatial relationship words, although the wording of the
definitions is not always as clear as could be. {cnita} for
example has a note: "also underside". A lujvo with {pagbu} won't
hurt though. mlapau: x1 pagbu x2 gi'e mlana x2 x3 x4
